Innovations in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery: Help You Look (and Feel) Your Best!

The latest innovations in cosmetic and plastic surgery

At the Plastic Surgery Bulletin, our goal is to give cutting edge and unbiased information and advice about plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures, including those for the most common areas of inquiry: the skin, buttocks, and face.  We have recently added a special section dedicated to cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures and related products designed especially for men.

The Plastic surgery Bulletin is for anyone who has ever thought about changing their appearance through minor or major plastic surgery.   Our advice includes everything from implants to injection, reduction to augmentation.  We hope to gather your feedback and experiences about your own plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure, and then provide as much “patient to patient” information and advice about plastic surgery as we can.

We do not directly provide any of these cosmetic surgeries or services, nor do we work directly with any plastic or cosmetic surgery provider.   Thus, The Plastic surgery Bulletin will be fully independent and unbiased in our opinions and advice about your potential cosmetic or plastic surgery adventure.

The Plastic Surgery Bulletin will focus on the following  areas of cosmetic and/or plastic surgery which are likely available at cosmetic clinics and plastic surgeon offices near you.  Each of these plastic surgery procedures is designed to correct flaws or help you look younger, or both.  Here are some links both within our site and to our own sister sites about specific cosmetic surgeries:

Plastic surgery for the face: Plastic and cosmetic surgeries for the face include facial birthmark removal, cheek implants and augmentation, eyebrow restoration and some laser procedures that are designed to reduce wrinkles and firm the skin.

Cosmetic procedures for the skin: Plastic surgeries for the skin include laser skin restoration, facial wrinkle removers, skin lightening, and birthmark and blemish removal procedures

Plastic and cosmetic surgery for the butt and hips: Plastic surgery such as butt implants or augmentation and fat injections in the buttocks area are available to correct flaws and improve your overall shape

Cosmetic surgery designed specifically for men: Cosmetic products and surgeries such as tan thru swimsuits and clothing, facial wrinkle reducers, male breast reduction, and body countoring are available.

These are just a few of the more popular, safe, and relatively inexpensive cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures available right now.  For a cosmetic or plastic surgeon or clinic near you, please see our links.

Thank you for visiting the plastic surgery bulletin, and good luck with your cosmetic or plastic surgery procedure!  We hope you will let us know how it goes.

Thanks for visiting!

Recovery from Laser Skin Surgery

Our previous post described recovery from invasive surgical cosmetic procedures.  Here is a time line of what to expect after your noninvasive laser skin resurfacing procedure for wrinkle or acne scar removal:

> Immediately following the laser skin resurfacing, the cosmetic surgeon will apply a dressing to your skin.

> Within a few hours of the laser therapy, swelling and “crusting” of the skin are normal. You will use ointments to keep the skin soft and elastic

> Continue to use the ointments for seven to ten days following laser skin surgery.

> In about a month, the redness of skin caused by the laser therapy will usually fade.

> You may be asked to change your diet a bit – not eating anything hard to chew that puts pressure on the facial muscles

> After your laser skin resurfacing therapy you will also be asked to avoid extreme hot or cold temperature.

> In about 10-14 days after laser skin resurfacing, new skin will emerge that is pink, soft, and fine.

> You will need to use strong sun block for some time to protect your new (wrinkle-free and/or acne scar free!) skin

> You may notice that your new skin remains light for a while until new pigment is formed after laser therapy.

That’s it – the aftereffects of laser skin resurfacing for wrinkle reduction or acne scar removal are fairly benign. As always, contact your cosmetic surgeon immediately if you feel like your recovery from laser skin therapy is deviating from what you think it should, or you have additional swelling, itching, or pain.

Recovery from Invasive Plastic Surgery

If you have hesitated to get invasive (surgical) plastic surgery, whether fat injections, augmentation, implants or something else, because you fear that the recovery might be complicated, here is information that might help you feel better. These are the basics of recovery from surgical cosmetic surgery:

- Suture Removal takes place in about 7-14 days after most implant and augmentation surgeries.  This is generally a quick and easy process. If they incision point was in your mouth, these sutures will eventually dissolve.

 - You’ll be put on antibiotics to prevent infection after this cosmetic surgery

 - The area you had augmented will feel tender and sore for less than a week.

 - Swelling may or may not occur after your implant or augmentation surgery. Many times the swelling that does occur is minimal and almost unnoticeable.

- Its possible that you’ll experience bruising, particularly after fat injection procedures. Cold compresses and some vitamins have been known to reduce the chances of bruising or the duration of bruising should it occur.

- Sleeping may be uncomfortable at first after this cosmetic procedure. You may want to take a mild sleep aid after the surgery for a few nights.

 - It may be 2-4 weeks before you can engage in heavy or strenuous exercise after plastic surgery.

These are the major components of recovery from major elective surgical cosmetic plastic surgery. Of course, ask your own surgeon for details about your own recovery needs, but this guideline might help break down your fears of pursuing this relatively simple cosmetic surgery in the first place.

Cheek Augmentation and Implants: The Latest Innovations

Cheek augmentation plastic surgery is used to enhance the appearance of one’s cheeks. Whether this facial cosmetic procedure is used to change the shape or size of the cheek to look younger or more attractive, or to correct flaws caused by birth defects or injury, this type of plastic surgery is getting more popular.

The cheek augmentation (sometimes called cheek implant) surgery is generally simple, fast, and uncomplicated and can take as little as an hour to perform. Some facial plastic surgery practices will do it as a day surgery. However, because It is unlikely to be covered by standard HMO insurance (unless it is being done to correct a birth defect or injury) you may have to pay out of pocket.

Cheek augmentation surgery is performed by the cosmetic surgeon making an incision just inside your upper lip or sometimes below your lower eyelid. A pocket is then formed and the specially designed and uniquely shaped cheek implant is inserted. When cheek implants are being placed at the same time that another facial plastic (cosmetic) surgery is taking place, this can make the process even easier as the implants may be inserted through the same incisions made for the other procedure.

After cheek implant surgery, the area is dressed and ointments are applied that minimize discomfort and swelling. The duration of any pain, swelling or other side effects varies, but is usually not too long. Also, after cheek implant surgery there may be limitations in your activity especially anything where you could suffer even mild trauma to the face.

Cheek implant and fat injection plastic surgeries have become increasingly popular for many women, and lately even some men. They are simple, and even though regular managed insurance may not cover them, they are relatively inexpensive

As with any invasive plastic cosmetic surgery, you must consider many factors, such as your health, the short- and long-term issues related to the surgery, and the costs involved. Your general medical practitioner and a qualified facial plastic surgeon can discuss the costs and benefits of cheek augmentation surgery with you and your family.

Anti Aging Herbal Supplements that Work

While this blog covers plastic and cosmetic surgery, our sister site Fitness and Home Remedies covers supplements and herbs that can help you look and feel younger.  Of course the two topics are very much related.  For example, our other site recently covered an herb called Cyani, which has been known to reduce swelling and the look of wrinkles around the eyes.  Cyani rejuvenates the skin around the eyes, giving you a more youthful look.  And the best part about Cyani is that, similar to the internal herbal remedy Yagara, Cyani applied to the face had an additive effect – working better each time it is used.  Please make sure you get advice about preparing Cyani, or buy a pre made mixture marked safe for the eyes, before using it on your eye area.

Cyani is just one example of an herb that has an anti-aging effect, a rejuvenative medicine that has become more and more popular as people realize that cosmetic or plastic surgery may not always be needed.  It is also popular for those who have had a cosmetic procedure for the skin or face to augment the results.

Yagara is another herb that has been known to have anti aging and rejuvenative effects.  Used most often as a home remedy for erectile dysfunction (ED) and potency issues in men, yagara has also been known to improve libido and overall health in both women and men. Interestingly, unlike many other natural herbal home remedies and alternative medicines, yagara seems to have an additive effect – its gets more effective if taken regularly.  Thus, given its low side effect profile, yagara can be a part of a daily herbal routine.

Here at the Plastic Surgery Bulletin we will be exploring various cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures and related products that can help your appearance and fix flaws.  We hope you will also visit our sister site, Fitness and Home Remedies, for information on how to find some of these effects through adjunctive measures.

Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Links Updated

At the plastic surgery bulletin we are dedicated to providing you with completely unbiased and independent information about cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures.  There are many web sites put out by reputable and honest plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgery clinics, but at the same time there is always built in bias when the practitioner is the one giving information and advice.  Therefore, our primary goal here is to provide advice from an independent source.  In that vein, we also ensure that the links we provide on the right-hand side are to sites that are equally unbiased and independent.  These links are to information and advice about specific plastic and cosmetic surgeries, and you can trust they are not affiliated with any specific plastic surgeon or cosmetic surgery practice.

Our main site, where you are now, will provide up-to-date information about the latest innovations in plastic and cosmetic surgery.  It will also provide general information and advice for anyone considering undertaking any procedure.  Our links are meant to supplement the information here with more specific guidance and knowledge about unique procedures.  We will be adding to the link list as time goes on, as we find sites that meet our criteria of being helpful, unbiased, and independent.  As we’ve stated many times, you should also be consulting with your own healthcare professional before undertaking any plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure, but these pages should at least help you narrow your search as far as which procedure could be for you.

At this point we have just updated our links to information about birthmark removal, laser skin resurfacing, buttocks augmentation, cheek augmentation, and tan thru swimwear.  In the future we will add more links to other plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures and related information.  We also welcome your suggestions and input – please do not hesitate to use the comments section or contact page.  You will always find our links in the sidebar to the right, and here they are as well:

  • Birthmark Removal: This site covers the latest innovations for safely and effectively removing birthmarks, whether they are on the face or elsewhere.  The site has a section that describes different types of birthmark so that you might be able to tell whether yours is a candidate for a birthmark removal cosmetic surgery.
  • Butt Augmentation: There are many types of buttocks augmentation plastic surgeries, including fat injections, Brazilian butt lifts, or butt implants.  Most people desire buttock plastic surgery to change their overall shape and figure, or to correct a specific injury.
  • Cheek Augmentation: Cheek implants are a popular form of cosmetic procedure designed to help fill out or change the shape of the face.  Plastic surgery of this type, whether a cheek implant or fat injection can help fix a flaw or just change an undesired facial shape.
  • Laser Skin Resurfacing: One of many outpatient cosmetic surgery procedures that has dramatically improved in cost, effectiveness, and recovery time is laser skin resurfacing.  This cosmetic procedure smooths the skin, including the face, and reduces the look of many types of blemishes and imperfections
  • Tan Thru: Recent advances in tan thru material have made tan thru swimwear and clothing more fashionable and effective than ever before.  This material let’s you tan thru your bathing suit, cover up, shirt, etc. even when you are fully clothed.

We will continue to provide links to other sites that provide information about the latest in cosmetic and plastic surgery.  We always make sure that each site is fully independent and unbiased, and does not work directly with any provider of plastic or cosmetic surgery, or any product manufacturer or distributor.  While we may gather advice and information from various sources including plastic and cosmetic surgeons, we will not promote their work or their clinics or practices.

Thanks!
